Fire damaged pumps and water ingress in tanks have been among the reactive callouts that have risen sharply over the past two months.
Persistent wet weather usually brings about an increase in tank issues caused by water ingress and this year has been no different. After testing the tank at a Bridgend site that had detected water, Eurotank confirmed that the tank had failed. The fuel was uplifted, the leak was stopped, and the tank remains out of service while the customer decides on their next steps.
Elsewhere in Warwickshire, corroded pipework in a tank chamber was found to be the cause of water ingress, while a forecourt in Worcestershire had to close when vapour was detected. The Eurotank team investigated, repaired the leak from the tank lid, and recommended a full tank lid removal and replacement.
Still with the theme of water, Eurotank’s interceptor and drainage division have attended 27 emergency callouts in the past six weeks, mostly overflowing car wash areas. Some of these forecourts already had annual maintenance visits, indicating that annual isn’t always often enough for high volume car wash sites.
A more unusual reactive job was at a forecourt in Hampshire where a fire had recently been put out. Our engineer capped off the lines on the damaged pump, and made the site safe to reopen to customers.
