Independent retailer Petrocell has invested in the Big Brother CCTV system at the remainder of its network following the success of the system at five sites.
Europump Maintenance first installed Big Brother’s Watch-it ANPR security system for Petrocell at Erith Service Station in Kent in the Autumn of 2023, and subsequently at four more sites.
John Dowling, Director at Petrocell, said: “The Big Brother ANPR system has been working very well across our sites. It’s proving to be a valuable tool for our managers in reducing drive-offs and assisting with the recovery of no means of payment cases.
“With our CBE epos and pump systems, we’ve also integrated pump solenoids to enable a pre-pay function. This allows us to automatically require pre-payment when there’s a vehicle mismatch with the DVLA database, or for vehicles flagged as suspicious, or with a history of non-payment. It’s made a real difference.”
Watch-it uses numberplate recognition to flag up high-risk vehicles by accessing the DVLA database.
The system also integrates with Big Brother’s debt collection service, which enables retailers to gather all pieces of evidence from a drive-off or no means of payment incident and send it off to the debt collector with just a few clicks of a mouse.
